Dr. Kies is a native of San Antonio with a Bachelors Degree, Trinity University; Bachelor of Science Degree in Biological Sciences, University of Tulsa, and Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine, The Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine, Toronto, Ontario.

Dr. Kies fullfilled the requirements for Proficiency in Practical Herbal Therapy Australian College of Phytotherapy.

Received Award of Excellence by completing over 100 hours of continuing education in the field of clinical nutrition and has obtained proficiency as an Applied Clinical Nutritionist from Standard Process of Central Texas, Inc and Applied Clinical Nutrition Seminars.

Completed course work Applying Functional Medicine in Clinical Practice presented by the Institute of Functional Medicine.
